Ever thought about celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Richmond? We’ve got all kinds of events going on. So, grab your green shirt, make a reservation and head in to town! Here’s a rundown of events:
Shamrock the Block 2011, Saturday, March 12, 12 to 6 p.m.
This free St. Patrick’s Day celebration takes place in Richmond’s historic Shockoe Bottom. There’s plenty of fair food, live music all day, green beer and even children’s activities. It’s a fun way to spend a day outside in Richmond. Click here to see the band lineup.
Enter the Haggis Concert, Capital Ale House Downtown, March 17, 9 p.m.
Celtic rock band Enter the Haggis will be taking the stage for a live St. Patrick’s Day party. There’ll also be more than 10 Irish and Scottish beers on tap, Irish food specials, and music from the Greater Richmond Pipes & Drums from 4 to 7 p.m.
St. Patrick’s Celebration, Rare Olde Times, March 17
Another of Richmond’s Irish pubs will host its own celebration of the big day. $5 at the door gets you in. This place will have Irish bands playing, along with Irish menu items and drink specials.
12th Annual St. Pat’s Street Party, Sine Irish Pub, Mach 19-20
Don some green and head to Sine for a lively all-day-long St. Patrick’s celebration that starts at 11:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and runs until close. This celebration gets full fast and gets crazy as the night wears on, so if you’re interested, go early. There’ll be live music all day, as well as a DJ spinning tunes in a tent out back.
Church Hill Irish Festival, March 26 and 27
This is a must-visit for closing out the St. Patrick’s fun. For a $2 donation that goes to area charities and to preserve St. Patrick’s Church, you get access to a day of music, Irish dancing, children’s activities, thirty Irish craft booths, Irish food, plenty of Guinness, and more.
