“I Heart Virginia” mugs can make a fun souvenirs, but if you’re in town this weekend, you’ve got the chance to get some way cooler, handmade stuff to bring home from your trip to our fair city. Or, if you’re relaxing with a stay-cation, you can just spoil yourself and support some independent crafters.
Richmond’s not-to-be-messed-with independent crafting coalition, The Richmond Craft Mafia (Really, don’t mess with them. Their motto is “Rubbin’ out the mass produced.”), is hosting its spring shopping event, Spring Bada-Bing, this Sunday (4/17) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Plant Zero.
This super-fun shop-portunity will host more than 60 independent crafters from Richmond and across the nation selling all kinds of cool stuff. You’ll find handmade perfume, crazy toys, wall art, clothing, accessories, stationery and more. Take some one-of-a-kind stuff home, then when your friends jealously ask where you got it, brag about how it’s handcrafted.
While you’re in the Manchester area, also make sure you sidle over to Artspace, the spacious gallery located inside Plant Zero that’s open from 12 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, as well as to ArtWorks, right next door, which is open from 12 to 6 p.m. and boasts 75 artists’ studios and five galleries you’re welcome to wander through.
Happy shopping!
