If you’re in town this weekend, join in on the local pride and watch Virginia Commonwealth University play in the Final 4. There’s an array of sports bars that are perfect for kicking back with a beer and some basketball. Here are some that are quite convenient to our inn:
Home Team Grill
One of the closest sports bars to our inn, this locally owned joint has a woody, comfortable feel with lots of tables, TVs, and a spacious bar. Because it’s in the heart of the fan, it’ll probably be packed with college students, but it’ll certainly be a lively time.
Mulligan’s Sports Grille
Also in the center of college-town, Mulligan’s (1323 W Main St., (804) 353-8686) is another locally owned joint with a ton of TVs and multiple areas for catching the game. Again, it’ll be college-student mania here.
Gus’ Bar and Grill
You’ll notice the menu at this new, local sports bar has your typical standards, as well as some Greek specialties. Most of the booths have their own TVs, so you’re sure to get a good view of the action.
Bandito’s Burrito Lounge
Want Tex-Mex with your hoops? Head to Bandito’s! There are chips, salsa, cheap Tecates, and plenty of TVs. This joint has both a large smoking and non-smoking section, so if you go, make sure to ask to be on the side you prefer.
We’ve got a sneaking suspicion that the game will be on everywhere, so if you’re looking for a different flavor with basketball in the background, let us know and we’ll be happy to point you in the right direction.
