Richmond officially goes into holiday mode on Friday, December 3, when the 26th Annual Grand Illumination takes place at the James Center Clock Tower (located at the intersection of East Cary St. and 10th St.). At 6 p.m., Santa and radio station Lite 98 will give a count down, then the lighted downtown office buildings, James Center tree and reindeer will be revealed!
There’ll also be blocks full of family fun with live music, holiday sing-a-longs, games, horse-drawn carriage rides and more. After the big unveiling, head to the 17th St. Farmers’ Market for a Grand Illumination Holiday Market with gifts and other items that’ll help you get into the holiday spirit.
The Grand Illumination and market are just steps away from a host of delicious restaurants and places for post-light-up libations. If you’re staying at our lovely inn during the main event, or if you just want to check out the holiday splendor later in the season, just ask and we’ll give you plenty of nearby recommendations.
