This Saturday (2/12) you are invited to take a peek inside some of the other beautiful homes along Grace Street, the street where our lovely inn is situated. The 2nd Annual West Grace Street Tour, “A Taste of Grace,” gets you into six different homes along the street where you’ll be treated to appetizers and wine or dessert and coffee at each home.
One of the homes on the tour used to be known as Talavera and back to 1838. Edgar Allan Poe lived at this home in the summer of 1849, and it is believed that he gave his last reading of “The Raven” in the parlor here two weeks before his death. Check out the Richmond Times-Dispatch article for a preview of other homes on the tour.
The wines come from Virginia winery Barboursville Vineyards (also a great day trip from our inn!), and the cuisine comes from nearby restaurants.
It’s a great opportunity to see some of the area’s most beautiful homes and to sample some regional cuisine. Tickets for the event cost $15 in advance and can be purchased at the merchants listed here. The day of the tour tickets will be available at Hartfields (501 N. Allen Ave.) for $20.
