Sunday (12/12) from 12 to 5 p.m. is your chance to get historical information and holiday cheer all for free at Court End Christmas when nine historical downtown sites will open their doors. All you’ve gotta do is head to VCU Hospital’s visitors’ parking deck at the intersection of 12th and Leigh streets, St Paul’s Church or St. John’s Church and hop the shuttle that drops off at each site every 15 minutes. Pretty awesome!
- Check out the event web site for all the places that’ll be open and for a full schedule of events. Here are a few highlights, though:
- The Valentine Richmond History Center & Wickham house will be offering horse-drawn carriage and sleigh rides from 12:15 to 3:15 p.m.
- The John Marshall House will be offering walk-through tours, along with a Virginia’s Finest product tasting and traditional Federal-era refreshments with free recipe cards.
- St. John’s Church will have a reenactment of Patrick Henry’s famous “Give Me Liberty” speech from 2 to 2:45 p.m.
Other venues will have children’s activities, free walk-through tours, choirs and more history/holiday fun.
Coinciding with this event, is the Church Hill Holiday House Tour. This event is just down the road and runs from 12 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, and includes tours of historic homes in Church Hill. Tickets cost $15 in advance and can be purchased here, or $20 on the day of. On the day of they can be purchased at St. John’s Church.
